Uchimata variations – video by Judo Mat Lab

Another great video from the folks at Judo Mat Lab. The “elbow up” version of this throw is useful when your opponent is hunched over or shorter than you. The “elbow down” or traditional variation works best when your opponent is the same size or taller and has an upright posture. Maybe that’s why the elbow down version is the “traditional” version, because it assumes that your opponent has a traditional upright posture.
